The Department of Technical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1988 have established Government Polytechnic for Women, at Nandigama, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh in 10 acres of land donated by Sri Vasantha Nageswara Rao former Hon’ble Minister for Food and Agriculture Government of Andhra Pradesh. This is the one Government Polytechnic established exclusively for Women in Krishna District.
The college has a sprawling campus of 10 acres land bounded by a compound wall on all sides having huge, green trees all along. The buildings were constructed during Tech- Ed project with World Bank Assistance at an outlay of Rs. 2 crores. There is an Academic Block of 2126 sq. mts accommodating the 6-class rooms, Drawing Hall, 10-laboratories, Administrative office, Principal, 2 Heads of section rooms and other facilities. There is an attached girls’ hostel which can accommodate 200 girl students. There is third block of new Hostel constructed with MHRD, Government of India funds to the tune of Rs. 90 lakhs during the year 2013.
The Polytechnic is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) till to date and affiliated to State Board of Technical Education & Training, (SBTET) Andhra Pradesh. The AICTE approved Diploma programmes offered in this institution are:
- Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering and
- Diploma in Commercial & Computer Practise approved by AICTE
The intake in each of these courses is 40 per annum.
